What is Soft Washing?
Low pressure soft washing services utilize lower water pressure and surfactants instead of high water pressure in order to clean, disinfect, and protect structures. Soft washing is a cleaning method that utilizes low pressure and specialized cleaning solutions (typically bleach, water, and a surfactant) to safely remove mildew, bacteria, algae and other organic stains from roofs and other building exteriors. Low pressure surfactant-assisted washing, A.K.A. "Soft Washing," is the preferred method for cleaning roofs, building exteriors, and concrete, in order to prevent damage from high pressure power washing alternatives.
Typical power washing utilizes a stream of high pressured water to forcibly remove dirt and grime. Unfortunately, this high pressured water can also remove paint, sealant, and protective layers of material, leaving your buildings, decks, and concrete at risk of significant damage.
Surfactant-assisted low pressure washing, or soft washing, utilizes lower water pressure and surfactants to safely remove dirt, grime, algae, mold, mildew, and bacteria, without causing damage to your structures. Not only is low pressure washing/soft washing a safer alternative, it also provides long-lasting benefits to your property when performed as a consistent maintenance service. The surfactants used in soft washing not only remove existing organic material, but they also inhibit the growth of organic material, providing extended protection to your structures. Algae, mold, and mildew can cause irreversible harm to your property, resulting in expensive repairs, that often are not covered by insurance. When routinely maintained through yearly washes, your property can be cleaned of harmful substances, protected from disrepair, and increased value can be added to your residential or commercial property.
Why Soft Washing Services?
Soft washing uses a low pressure sprayer to apply a water-based, biodegradable, disinfecting cleaning solution to kill the mold, mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, and moss on exterior home and building surfaces. This routine cleaning is essential for prolonging the life of your building structures, reducing potential expensive refurbishing costs, and maintaining a clean exterior.
Mold, mildew, bacteria, algae, fungus, and moss not only make your exterior look dirty, but they are also damaging to your structures and could cause the need for expensive repairs if left untreated. Most insurance companies do NOT cover damages caused by organic materials such as mold and algae, because they can be easily prevented through routine cleaning.

Mold & Mildew
Molds digest organic material, eventually destroying the material they grow on, and then spread to destroy adjacent organic material. In addition to the damage molds can cause to your home, they can also cause mild to severe health problems.
Bacteria
Bacteria can survive for days on hard surfaces. Soft washing detergents effectively kill bacteria and reduce the spread of germs.

Algae
Algae growth on your home can not only ruin the appearance of your home, but it can also wear on your shingles over time. As the algae builds up, your roof becomes less reflective and will absorb more sunlight. The excess of sunlight can increase the amount of heat your roof absorbs.

Moss
Moss absorbs the moisture from the damp environment and establishes roots on your roof causing the beginning of roof degradation. The roots can lift up shingles and constant moisture can lead to bacteria and mold growth. This eventually can lead to holes in your roof and leaks into your home.

Fungus
Fungus is the cause of dry rot, which is one of the most serious defects that wood can develop. The fungus grows by consuming wood fiber, and the wood becomes soft and punky. When dry rot occurs in the framing of a house or deck, the damage may not be noticeable until it causes structural problems that require major repairs.
Lichen
Lichen holds moisture in place against surfaces, which speeds up normal wear and tear. When this surface moisture freezes in cold temperatures, it can lead to frost damage to roof shingles and other exterior surfaces. This can cause your roof shingles to bend, warp, and even separate from each other over time.
